Christmas this year was pretty different. First, we were way too far away from family to join in with the usual celebrations. Dan got done with work early on the night of the 23rd, so he ended up not working at all on Christmas Eve. Then he had time off until tonight (Sunday). On Christmas day we woke up to a phone call from my family, who wanted us to get on Skype so we could open presents together. Dan got me an ipod touch! Now we don’t have to share anymore. In the afternoon we went to Dan’s boss’s house for dinner along with a bunch of his coworkers. Friday afternoon we headed toward Charleston where we had reserved a hotel room for two nights (btw, priceline.com is awesome). The room was in a hotel that is part of a resort right on the Atlantic ocean. That night we went to Longhorn Steakhouse for supper and then to go see “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, which was a pretty interesting movie. On Saturday we went into Charleston to the South Carolina Aquarium. It was very cool getting to see all the different fish and jellyfish. They even had a “petting” area where they had some sea urchins and crabs that you could hold in your hand. After leaving the aquarium we drove around Charleston and ended up heading to a place called Folly Island. The area is full of marshes and rivers and other waterways. We even saw a couple shrimp boats. The weather was gorgeous- over 70˚. We had the moonroof open almost the whole time. Today we had to head home so that Dan could be to work on time. It would have been nice to stay longer, but it was an enjoyable drive home.
